Scarborough Whitby and Ryedale Mind have joined forces with Eastside Community Centre in Whitby to offer a fantastic opportunity to become a First Aider for Mental Health, free of charge (typically £200 per place).

This 12-hour course is spread across three 4-hour sessions (21st May, 22nd May, 4th June, 10am-2.30pm) and goes into detail on a wide range of mental health conditions, the support and help provided by healthcare professionals and ways that you can start difficult conversations within your social network, workplace or local community. The course is ideal for anyone interested in learning more in-depth about mental health conditions, triggers and the impact on the individual, as well as how you can offer support including skills such as active listening. Registration is open to anyone in the local community and we’d particularly welcome people volunteering in their local community who are likely to come into contact with people experiencing poor mental health.

A range of First Aid for Mental Health related subjects are covered including:

• What is First Aid for Mental Health?
