Coastguards and air ambulance rescue person with broken ankle from beach near Whitby

Whitby Coastguard received a call from Humber Coastguard Operations Centre on January 3 at 2.06pm in response to reports of a person who had fallen and sustained a leg injury on the beach in Sandsend.
The Yorkshire Air Ambulance Helimed 98 and a Yorkshire Ambulance Service paramedic crewed ambulance also attended the incident.

Hide AdUpon arrival at the scene, Coastguards conducted a brief search to locate the casualty, who had sustained a broken ankle, and began care.
Coastguards assisted the air ambulance paramedics in supporting the casualty's injury and transporting them to the awaiting land ambulance.
The casualty was taken by road to hospital for further treatment.
A spokesperson fro Whitby Coastguard said: "We would like to wish them a speedy recovery.
"If you see anyone in difficulty on or near the coast dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard."
