Residents of North Marine Road have reported raw sewage flowing across the pavement and onto the road from a set of steps opposite The Albert Inn.
Geoff Murdoch said: “It’s been going on for at least six months. Yorkshire Water have been sending out a tanker to drain the sewer [but] 12/18 hours later it starts flowing again across the pavement and into the gutter.

According to Mr Murdoch, many people have been in touch with Yorkshire Water in the last few months in the hope to get the leak repaired. However, despite the issue being ongoing since last summer, the cause of the problem is yet to be addressed.
His concern is that the leak poses a potential health risk.
“This is raw sewage and they seem reluctant to do anything about it. It’s horrible,” he added.

Yorkshire Water have confirmed they will investigate.
A spokesperson said: “There have been a number of issues with sewage escape in the area and we have been on site numerous occasions to clear blockages and drains as we understand the distress these issues can cause. We will shortly be carrying out a dig on the site to fully investigate the issue.”
