Filey Church of England Nursery and Infants Academy have come up with a creative solution to the problem of having no space for a school library – a big red double decker bus.
The idea sparked a hunt for a suitable vehicle and local bus company Shoreline has provided a shell and agreed an affordable price as it was to be used as a children’s library.

Financial help came from Filey Churches Together who paid for the vehicle and they also gave the school £500 to put toward buying books.
Help was also given by some of the school children's parents, one of whom laid the concrete base adjacent to the school where the bus now sits while another, who works for coach building company Plaxton, is helping to convert it.
Non-fiction books will be on the upper deck and fiction books will be downstairs.

Angela Clark, headteacher of the school, said: “This is a real community effort and it has been heartwarming to see everyone pull together to make it work.
“The children are so excited and we’re all looking forward to putting the reading bus to good use.
"It will be a lovely environment to browse books and for the children to be able to sit and read.”
Refurbishments on the bus continue and the library is expected to be complete by September, when there will be weekly family reading club in the bus for parents and children.
