Fair booster for village

AMENITIES in Wold Newton have been given a monetary boost thanks to a successful summer fair on Saturday.
The Wold Newton summer fair raised £550 towards the upkeep of local amenities, such as the community centre, and £120 for the village's All Saints Church.
The fair was organised by the six members of the Wold Newton Amenities Fund Committee who have already raised money for new flooring and crockery at the community centre.
Committee member, Judith Robinson, said: "We did quite well considering the weather, we had a little bit of a monsoon in the afternoon so we were down on attendance but the people who were there were willing to support the fund."
All those who attended the fair were able to enjoy a wide range of stalls selling greetings cards and cakes, while youngsters made the most of the games on offer.
"Things that made money were surprising. For example, this was the first time we had a coconut shy which is something so simple, but that made £31 which was really good," Ms Robinson added.
