PROPOSALS to build a new stable block in Skerne look set to get the green light on Monday - despite objections from the parish council.
Mr Pete Boyes has applied to the East Riding of Yorkshire Council for planning permission to build at School House, Driffield Road, Skerne.
The matter will be considered by the eastern area planning sub-committee and officers are recommending approv
al.

The proposed stable block will be within a paddock and the parish council has objected, claiming: "The existing driveway is concealed for motorists, is located on a very dangerous corner of the main route from Driffield and through the village.

"There are already problems with vehicles parked on all roads.
"Private access is at present not suitable for horseboxes, delivery vehicles, feed, hay straw etc, or vehicles associated with horses."

But a report to be considered by the committee says: "The objection raised by the parish council in relation to highway safety and disposal of manure is considered to have been addressed by information provided by the agent which clarifies that waste will be stored not closer than 50 metres from the nearest odour sensitive property.

"The highways officer does not consider the scheme will have a detrimental impact on highway safety."

The report concluded: "It is considered that the proposed erection of a stable block will not result in any significant problems with sustainable development, highway issues and disposal of manure.

"Therefore, the application is recommended for approval."
