THE annual Leven and Brandesburton Show saw hundreds of entries packed into the Leven Sports Hall at the weekend.

Television presenter Caroline Davis presented more than 70 trophies at Saturday's event, which attracted a total entry of 913 items.

Prizes were up for grabs in more than 150 different classes, with a total of 186 exhibitors taking part.

Show organisers, the Leven and Brandesburton Horticultural Society, said they were delighted with both the size and quality of the entries submitted.

Society chairman, David Powell, said: "The Leven and Brandesburton summer show has continued to grow in both size and quality over the last few years, when a number of other village shows seem to have become smaller or stopped running altogether.

"We are thrilled that so many people came to support the show.

"It is a chance for ordinary people to show off their extraordinary skills and take part in the good natured competition of the village show."

He added: "We were delighted to welcome Caroline Davis to present trophies to those skilled individuals who worked so hard on their exhibits."

In recent years, the show has continued to thrive, becoming one of the largest in the area.

Mr Powell told the Driffield Times that the judges had praised the high standard of entries submitted and had difficult decisions to make in choosing many of the winners.
