VILLAGERS in North Frodingham will find the journey to church much easier than in recent weeks.
Churchgoers have been struggling with the gates to St Elgin's Church for some time but a £500 grant and cash from North Frodingham Parish Council have paid for their renovation.

The work, carried out by North Frodingham joiner, Andy McKie, was paid for by the grant from Yorkshire Water. Mr McKie had to strip the gates, which he believes are around 50 years old, repaint them with three coats of paint and cover them in a preservative. He has also installed new gateposts.

Churchwarden, Kathryn Kell, said she was delighted with the revamped gateway. She said: "It is like the gateway to the village and it now looks a lot better.

"The gates are wonderful because they now open and close properly."
