DRIFFIELD residents concerned about the Cattle Market safety plans have driven a HGV lorry around the town to see how the roads would cope if a retail development for the site gets the go-ahead.
The hands on experiment to test the access to the site was the brainchild of Driffield trader Mark Blakeston who is leading a campaign to stop a supermarket being built on the cattle market site.
The move comes just days after proposed traffic calming measures for the area, including a 20mph zone, mini-roundabout and restricted waiting areas, were unveiled by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
