THE Northern Area Field Day competition for young farmers clubs is due to be held on Saturday at Moor Edge Farm in Brandesburton.
It is a one day event when the winners from seven counties in the North of England take part in the finals comprising more than 30 activities.
Teams will be welcomed from Cumbria, Durham, Isle of Man, Lancashire, Northumberland and Yorkshire to compete against the host team from East Riding YFC.
Events range from tug of war to stock judging, and male floral art to fashion. New for 2008 is 'Northern Area's Got Talent', which will see members displaying varied skills and talent. Some of the competitions are also eliminators for national finals.
The committee is chaired by Mark Richardson, a club leader at Brandesburton YFC who outlined the event: "YFC members have been taking part in qualifiers for the Field Day events since last autumn and we are sure we will have a very high standard of competition on Saturday."
The day's events start at 10am and active classes run through to 3.30pm. There are also static exhibits, with a dance to follow, tickets for which cost £8.
