Visitors and residents across the region are being encouraged to visit the numerous visitor attractions in Hull and East Yorkshire and take part in the many special events planned for the holiday weekend.
Anthony Yates, VHEY Tourism Manager said, "We are very proud of the quality attractions in the area and both visitors and residents to the region will find there are plenty of things to entertain them this weekend. The new Hull & East Yorkshire Attr
actions map lists over 50 museums, galleries and attractions to visit, just call into one of our Tourist Information Centres to pick up a guide or visit our website." www.realyorkshire.co.uk

17 of the regions most popular visitor attractions have recently been recognised as exemplary, having been awarded the coveted VAQAS (Visitor Attraction Quality Assurance Service) Quality Mark

The accreditations follow in-depth assessments of the venue which include anonymous phone enquiries, website checks and an anonymous venue visit. The quality awards will be reviewed on an annual basis to ensure that the high standards needed to achieve an award are maintained.

Simon Green, Head of Museum Operations at Hull City Council, said: "VAQAS accreditation is the Gold standard for visitor attractions in the UK and puts us in the same league for quality of visit and customer care as visitor attractions such as The Tower of London, Alnwick Castle in Northumberland and Longleat in Wiltshire. It's something our staff are very proud of. It's a sign of the hard work of our teams in both Hull and East Riding and shows partnership working at its best"

Nial Adams, Principal Museums Officer for East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: "I am very pleased that this important scheme has recognised all the hard work which our staff have put into ensuring that our visitors are delighted by East Riding museum sites. I am further delighted that the VAQAS reports have given us pointers as to how we can carry on improving our services."
