DRIFFIELD Churches Together have said a huge thank you to all those who have made donations to the Hull Plant Bank.

The plant bank was launched by Angela Train, of Exchange Street, Driffield with the support of Driffield Churches Together, to give victims of last summer's devastating floods a head start with rebuilding their gardens.

Thousands of plants, shrubs and flowers were donated to the bank and distributed at a special giveaway event in Hull over the weekend.

Ms Train said the event was a huge success with people queuing up to an hour before the doors opened and some recipients getting very emotional.

Ms Train said: "I would like to say a special thanks to Whinn Hill Nursery and Bell Mills Garden Centre without whose help and support we could not have done so much.

"Also to all the kind folk who came and helped label all 3,000 or more plants we sent."

The plant bank is still looking for donations to add to the remaining 500 plants which will be distributed to flood victims in Driffield and surrounding villages.

The giveaway will take place at All Saints Parish Church, Driffield on Saturday June 28.

For further information please contact Ms Train, tel (01377) 252230.
