A DRIFFIELD bird food company experienced record sales last month as the region – and its feathered inhabitants – battled the big freeze.
Cranswick Pet Products, based at Kelleythorpe, experienced record-breaking trading figures for the month of January – the highest sales recorded for that month in the company's history.

While the temperatures were plumetting, sales soared sky-high as Cranswick Pet Products became one of a number of companies within the industry benefitting from the changing climate, celebrating record sales two weeks running.

Sam Marridge, head of sales and marketing for Cranswick, said: "Achieving these sales figures in such harsh weather conditions is not only an incredible feat for the company but evidence of the ever-increasing popularity of wild bird feeding and a raised consciousness about wild bird care in general."

With total sales of 2,008 tonnes in the week commencing January 11, rising to 2,127 tonnes the following week, Cranswick topped its previous record sales total by 389 tonnes.
