A MACMILLAN carol service being held in Driffield will feature a march penned by a local composer.
The Macmillan Carol Service will take place at All Saints’ Parish Church from 7pm on Tuesday December 1.

The service will feature the Alfred Bean March which has been written by Fred Robson and will be played by the Driffield Silver Band.

Mr Robson attends the Macmillan Tuesday Club at Alfred Bean Hospital where he often plays the organ and felt honour-bound to compose the march due to the “wonderful nurses’ kindness and attention they give to all patients”.

Mr Robson is a local poet and composer responsible for the band’s signature tune for the past 27 years, the Capital of the Wolds March, as well as the Great Driffield Festival March.

A retiring collection will be held in aid of the Macmillan Nurses and refreshments will also be available.
