Ross Weekes, of Driffield, writes . . .
May I please use your columns once again to inform the people of Driffield that thanks to their support, kindness and generosity, we have been able to send a cheque for £5,000 to Christian Aid.

Christian Aid Week - the vital and essential core of our fundraising - was unfortunately, a disappointment. For despite the sterling efforts of our loyal collectors, to whom we are forever grateful, the total collection was down this year.

However due to a unique series of events, unfortunately unlikely to be repeated, involving concerts, quiz nights, raffles and good old fashioned most welcome honest to goodness donations, this special sum was achieved.

So, on behalf of the Christian Aid committee, unfortunately a dwindling band, who are humbled by your kindness, may I offer everyone concerned a great big thank you.

Anyone willing and able to help Christian Aid please contact myself on (01377) 253832.
