It takes a lot for me to put pen to paper in relation to a complaint, but I feel compelled to bring to public attention the latest squeeze on our community by Tesco.
I refer to DIY check-outs in the Driffield store. Tesco has installed these not for customer convenience, but to cut down on staff. I understand they have already cut some hours.

A large amount of people work in Tesco and need their jobs. They ar
e not doing it for fun, it is hard work for what they are paid.

I have a business in the town and some Tesco workers come to my salon.
This is going to have a knock on effect on the town's economy, so you see I have a vested interest in what is happening, as I am sure a lot of other business people have. We all need each other like cogs in a wheel.

If we allow this DIY system to become a permanent fixture, a lot of people will be out of a job.

If people refuse to use these check-outs the machines will become redundant instead.

What will be next? Will customers be asked to fill a few shelves as they go round?

My final point is this: If we are asked to do our own till duty, will Tesco bring down their prices, or give customers a substantial discount on their bills? I don't think so.
