I REFER to the superstore scheme proposed for the Driffield cattle market site. Why doesn't the East Riding of Yorkshire Council's planning committee ever listen to what the people of Driffield actually want?
The townsfolk of Driffield have filled in questionnaires about what they do and do not want for the town and highlighted what our young people need.
Yet, the members of the ERYC have not listened to this and our local councillors, who are supposed
to be doing their best for the town, do not seem to be listening either.
Don't they see the danger of all the delivery lorries having to negotiate their way down the narow roads of Albion Street and Eastgate South?
There is already enough congestion along the route with the school buses.
Goodness knows what problems will arise when the supermarket delivery lorries start using the route several times a day.
I just hope that somebody being hurt or knocked over is not the price we have to pay just to get a supermarket-superstore on the cattle market site when other, better positioned sites, are available within the town.
With reference to Simon Fraser's comment in the Driffield Post regarding consultations that were carried out in 2004.
Is he saying that these outweigh the dangers to children and people living in the area near the cattle market as mentioned by Sarah Blakeston, of Eastgate South.
These roads were never designed for such traffic.
