Stores very strict re delivery slots
FURTHER to your article in the Driffield Times, I am totally against this superstore.
My reasons are as follows:
1: Permission has just been given to Tesco to enlarge its supermarket. So why do we need another one?
2: The roads leading to the cattle market are extremely narrow and not at all suitable for large articulated lorries delivering to a superstore. Having experience in the haulage world, I know that deliveries are made 24 hours a day. Where would residents who live nearby be able to park their vehicles as the streets are too narrow for both their cars and these huge lorries. Supermarkets are very strict about their delivery slots and if, for any reason, lorries are late they are turned away. More chaos!
3: Tradespeople in the town would definitely suffer. People who have worked hard for years and, in their own ways, supported Driffield would just go out of business. We don't want to lose the individuality of our shops in the town.
