Former Whitby hotel to be turned into 15 holiday apartments
The Dapatchi Group applied to Scarborough Council to transform the Carlill in Royal Crescent into the flats, alongside building a five-storey extension to the rear of the property.
Its submission to the council stated: “The hotel that operated on the site for many years ceased to operate due to viability issues and has been vacant for a significant length of time.”

"The rear extension proposed is not prominent within the street scene, being on the rear elevation where other extensions and alterations to terraced properties have been built.”
On Friday, Scarborough Council’s planning committee unanimously approved the plans.
Cllr Glenn Goodberry said: “This is probably the flagship area of the West Cliff with very desirable properties and I’m delighted that this has come up.

Whitby Town Council did not object to the plans, though five members of the public and Whitby Civic Society lodged their opposition with the borough council.
