A man arrested after three teenage girls were hit by a car in West Yorkshire has been released on bail.
One of the girls is said to be in a serious but stable condition in Leeds General Infirmary after the crash involving a Ford Focus on Wakefield Road, Normanton, at 9.10pm on Friday.

Two girls were treated for minor injuries.

West Yorkshire Police said a man was arrested following the crash but was released on bail on Saturday night.

The crash happened near the Hark To Mopsey pub. The pub's landlady, who did not want to be named, said customers rushed out to help after they heard screeching tyres and smelled burning rubber.

It is unclear whether the girls were crossing the road or on the footpath when they were hit by the Focus but the pub landlady said the car came to a stop after it mounted the pavement.

The local girls were believed to be about 15 and one was said to be in a wheelchair.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Wakefield police on 01924 295436.
