AMENDED proposals for a new property on a Nafferton street have been approved by East Riding councillors, despite opposition from parish councillors and some residents.
The scheme for a property on land south-east of 25 Priestgate was backed unanimously by the East Riding Council's eastern area planning sub-committee on Monday.

A revised plan had been submitted by applicants Charkerd Estates to allow for a curved archway and doors to the opening of the vehicle access on the site.

But the plans were opposed by some nearby residents, who expressed concerns over the impact on their homes, access to the site and the impact on a protected species of bat which was understood to be nesting on the site.

However, officers reported that the planned property was considered acceptable in the wider conservation area, despite concerns over the immediate surroundings.

Highways officials also raised no objections.

The report to the committee added that the bats were nesting in a non-permanent structure on the site, which could be moved.

However, a survey to establish whether bats were present on the site plus protection measures were recommended if the plans were passed.
