A Saunderson Trophy Final

NAFFERTON Rec duly picked up their third trophy of the season - they had already won the Division One title and the Senior Cup - with this hard fought win against a committed Yorkies side.

Both teams tended to cancel each other out in an even first half but Nafferton drew first blood on 38 minutes when a ball in from the right opened up the Yorkies defence for a sizzling Dave Lakes cross shot to arrow past the keeper.

Nafferton got on top in the second half and should have gone further ahead on several occasions before they wrapped up the trophy in stoppage time when Darren Pearson finished coolly after breaking the Yorkies offside trap.

League Life-President Don Bemrose presented mementoes to both teams and the winners shield to Nafferton captain Peter Savage.
