RESIDENTS and business people in Nafferton have been urged to lend their support to a planned community event marking ten years of work by a prominent village charity body.
Talent competitions and sporting contests are set to be among the main attractions at the event celebrating the Nafferton Millennium Committee's anniversary later this year.
The event has now been given the title of 'Nafferton 'Lympics' and is set
to take place on Saturday September 13 on the primary school field.
The celebrations will start in the late afternoon and continue into the evening with a bar, disco and band providing entertainment.
And committee secretary Sheila Cook said this week: "We need as many villagers as possible to turn up and make it a real community event."
The celebrations will mark ten years since the Millennium Committee, which supports a wide range of community activities and organisations in the village, was first formed.
Following a recent planning meeting, the committee are set to stage a range of junior sports competitions for medals at the event, as well as adult team sports.
Teams, who will compete in a variety of events for an overall prize, are invited to represent any village group ranging from a street or a club to a local pub or business.
Sponsors are also being sought for prizes.
The committee is also planning to stage a 'Nafferton's Got Talent' competition in the marquee from around 5pm.
And representatives of a number of village bodies will all be running events and side stalls, alongside Millennium Committee members.
