REVISED proposals for a housing development on the site of a Nafferton garage have been backed by parish councillors, it has been revealed this week.
The amended plans for the site of the H Kitching and Sons garage on Middle Street were recommended for approval at a special meeting of the council.

The latest scheme, submitted by applicants Jen-Jay Limited, still allows for seven properties to b
e built on the land after the existing garage buildings are demolished.

A previous application for seven homes on the site was deferred and delegated for refusal unanimously by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council last month.

That came after an original scheme for eight homes was turned down last year.

And district councillors are once again set to determine the site’s future.

Two other planning applications in the parish met with a mixed reaction from councillors when they were considered at the special meeting.

A proposal to build a single storey extension to an existing cattery at the Woodside Cattery, Pockthorpe was recommended for approval.

But the council said that highway access should be clearly marked with white lines if a revised scheme for a dwelling and detached garage on a site next to 27 Station Road are approved.

Meanwhile, plans for a caravan to be sited at a stable complex on the outskirts of the village have now been withdrawn.

The proposals for the land at the Cromer Buildings on Markman Lane had been recommended for refusal by parish councillors.
