A TEENAGE girl had to be taken to hospital after getting so drunk in a Nafferton street that she became unconscious.
The 14-year-old girl was detained in Scarborough Hospital overnight for observations after the incident on Middle Street in the village last Thursday evening.
Now, police have repeated their warnings to young people in the village of the dangers o
f drinking too much alcohol.
Sgt Dave Jenkins of the Driffield Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "You need to be very aware of the consequences of drinking alcohol.
"This girl ended up unconscious, in hospital and very sick.
"Don't become a casualty. Say no!"
Police and paramedics were called to Middle Street shortly after 9pm on Thursday after receiving reports of a group of youths appearing to be drunk in the street.
Investigations are continuing into the incident in an attempt to establish the source of the alcohol.
The incident was the latest in a series of occasions when disorder and anti-social behaviour by young people has been reported to the police.
But Sgt Jenkins insisted that the situation in the village had improved in recent months because of increased police presence and the targeting of known troublemakers.
He said there had been a significant drop in the number of calls received in connection to anti-social behaviour in Nafferton in recent months.
Three people have now signed acceptable behaviour contracts (ABCs) as part of efforts to curb their behaviour. One of the contracts was breached last week.
And he warned: "We shall be monitoring those people and ready to step things up should they breach those contracts."
Seventeen Fairway warning letters have also been sent out to troublemakers.
Sgt Jenkins said most offenders receive three warning letters before going onto to an ABC and then an anti-social behaviour order where necessary.
"This is so that we cannot be seen to be too harsh for one-off incidents. We need to establish a pattern of anti-social behaviour," he said.
