THE chairman of Nafferton Parish Council has pledged that the authority will do all it can to tackle traffic problems in the village.
Concerns were raised by residents at the annual parish meeting about the impact of planned house building and heavy lorries using narrow lanes.

Parish council chairman Andrew Oliver promised: “You can rest assured that we will be doing our utmost
to make sure there are as few problems as possible.”

Fears were expressed over the impact on traffic of 50 new homes planned for Station Road. The meeting also heard that conditions in the area during building work at the nearby Mill Chase development were ‘appalling’ and ‘utter chaos’.

As previously reported, developers Beal Homes have said they plan to start work on the site in late spring. Representatives of the firm are set to give more details of their proposals when they address the parish council’s regular monthly meeting tonight (Wednesday).

And the chairman said the council would be raising the traffic issue with the developers.

The annual meeting also heard concerns over ‘unacceptable’ large lorries regularly using Nethergate, despite one company instructing their drivers not to drive through the village at all.
