Derwent Valley, Filey and league newcomers New Eastwick were visitors to the town when Driffield Junior Amateur Swimming Club played host to the first Ridings Gala of the season.
Driffield started well and found themselves leading after the initial round of relays.
With several team regulars unavailable, however, a number of the team's swimmers had to be pitched into older age groups for the individual races, making it unrealistic that the lead would be maintained.
Nonetheless, Will Thomson, Max Gilbart, Amelia Lawrence and Eleanor Thomson each achieved individual wins, with several other swimmers recording personal best times.
The final result saw Driffield in third place on 118 points, behind winners New Eastwick (128) and Filey (127). Derwent Valley were fourth on 99 points.
Thanks go to all the poolside volunteers, whose efforts ensured the smooth running of the event, and to all competitors and visitors who contributed to the warm and friendly atmosphere.
