High scores amongst the batsmen in Division One produced some significant results. Top place must go to Andrew Dixon of Flamborough who hit a century against Hornsea to follow the two half centuries he made in the previous two matches. Flamborough's score of 197 for 5 proved too many for Hornsea who ended on 147 for 6.
The two leaders, Newport and Rudston and Kilham continued their good form. For Newport Mark Ogram hit another high score in their victory over Old Hymerians for whom Geoff Kean was again a top scorer. Rudston’s good all round batting gave them 199 fo
r 6 which was sufficient to defeat Middleton despite 70 not out from S Wilson.
Another solid batting performance for North Dalton produced 188 for 7 with veteran Dave Conner hitting 61. However, Nafferton were only eight runs short, mainly due to N Sawyer who hit 74.
South Cave, who did not have a match, still lead Division Two, however Walkington crept closer. A half century from D Huzzard helped them to 168 for 7 and five wickets from J Elliott swept them to victory.
In Division Three a massive 283 for 7 from South Cave gave them victory over Yapham who were dismissed for 108 and Newport had a good win at Hutton Cranswick. Morfoot took five Cranswick wickets and Yates led them to a good win with a half century.
Leven bowled out Gilberdyke for 53 after their batsmen had scored 156 all out. Unfortunately Hessle had to postpone their two home matches due to a rugby semi final taking preference for use of the ground.
It’s a pity rugby cannot stick to their usual season!
