Driffield Homing Society
MEMBERS were at Huntingdon on May 10 where 10 members sent 167 birds, liberated at 8.30am into a light variable wind, distance 116+.

First P & A Woodmansey 06X D cock, Van Den Brante bred by Robert Mallinson which won 3 x first last year, includin
g first fed Neward 1434.072.

Second P & A Woodmansey 03D B cock Vandenabeele with 5 x first from Syd Day stock 1431.729.

Third Ken Ireland 052 B cock1 1430.684.

Fourth Sam Jackson 07D B cock Soontjen from G Lynn Guisbourgh stock 1429.531, 5 Peter Dixon 1426.351, 6 Lance Sedman 1425.607, 7 Ken Gladstone 1401.383, 8 G & G Ringrose 1388.679, 9 J W Hubbard & Son 1327.119, 10 D & J Kirkup 1306.428.

Driffield Wolds Way Flying Club

The race was flown on Saturday, May 10 when nine members sent 50 birds. Due to the transporter breaking down the birds were liberated from Berwick instead of the intended race point off Perth at 9.15am, into a light south, easterly wind.

E & S Blades took first and second with a De Clak Jannsen Cheq cock taking its second red card of the sesaon followed by a Blue Bar cock a Felix Dowell. In third place came A & J Duffin with a staff van Reet X Marcellis Blue Bar hen.

Result: 1 E & S Blades 1439, 2 E & S Blades 1431, 3 A & J Duffin 1421, 4 E Potter & Son 1417, 5 E Potter & Son 1407, 6 Mr & Mrs D IrelanD 1389, 7 G W Acey 1383, 8 A & J Duffin 1368, 9 Mr & Mrs D Ireland 1365, 10 E Potter & Son 1319, 11 W Meek 1208, 13 J W Hubbard & Son 1200.

E & S Blades won the Albert Witty Trophy and first nominated pigeon.

Bonus ball was won by Mr Billy Meek.

Hutton Cranswick Homing Society

The race, on Saturday May 10, was originally to be from Perth but was rescheduled to Berwick. Members sent 57 pigeons which were liberated into a light variable wind.

Ian Waggott, partnered by his grandson, Leigh Smith, enjoyed their second win of the season with a lovely Staf Van Reet hen. Colin Sedman took second place with, yes, that Soontjen cock again, which also won the club nomination again.

Malcolm Mason was third and fourth, then Colin Sedman fifth. Mr and Mrs Peter Sheriff from Cranswick kindly sponsored the race.

Result: 1 I Waggott & G’son 1456, 2 C Sedman 1441, 3 M J Mason 1431, 4 M J Mason 1405, 5 C Sedman 1401.
