SATURDAY LEAGUE: Newlands spot on in shoot-out success against Rovers
Paddy Mancrief’s men sealed their spot in the next round of the competition after a 4-1 win on penalties after a keenly contested 1-1 draw against Rovers at the Flamingo Land Stadium.
The game finished all square at 1-1 after 90 minutes, Rovers taking an early lead through Curtis Rose but a late penalty from Dan Freer levelled it up and sent the game to pens.

Hide AdDespite Sam Pickard scoring for the spot for Rovers, Mikey Barker and Luke Jones missed and Newlands took the spoils as Ben Luntley, Brad Rowley, Freer and goalkeeper Tommy Cammish, who was also their man of the match, found the back of the net.
Rovers boss Lee was pleased with his entire side’s performance despite their cup exit from the competition.
In the other District Cup clash, Hunmanby United were in fine form to beat derby rivals Filey Town 4-0 to move into the next round.
United led a hard-fought derby clash 1-0 at the break, their man of the match James Pinder the man to break the deadlock.

Hide AdPlayer-boss Leigh Franks powered in a header to double their lead after the interval before goals from sub Cameron Dobson and Liam Sugden wrapped up their win.
Franks said: “Derby games between us and Filey are always a battle and Filey played their part in a good game.
“It was also good to see so many people there watching the game too.”
Town boss Phil Dickens singled out Lee Lambert and Aaron Howard as his side’s star men.

Hide AdIn the only game in Division One, holders and league leaders Edgehill made it four wins from four with a 7-0 win over Scalby.
Steve Clegg’s men led 2-0 at the break thanks to a lobbed effort from Joel Ramm and Robbie Scarborough’s strike.
Man of the match Ramm added two further goals after the break to wrap up his hat-trick as Edgehill took full control.
Sub Billy Logan came off the bench and bagged a brace and Sean Exley rounded off the scoring for Edgehill.

Scalby boss Sam Medd also singled out goalkeeper Cameron Anderson as his side’s star man.
Edgehill Reserves advanced in the Scarborough & District FA Junior Cup after a 3-2 win over Beckett League side Ayton.
Alec Coulson’s men led an entertaining contest 1-0 at the break thanks to Jake Reeves’ strike.

Hide AdJake Moore blazed a penalty over the bar before Ayton also missed a penalty at the other end, Freddie White making the save.
Moore atoned for his miss by doubling Edgehill’s lead before Danny Collins, playing against his former club, bagged a brace to make it 2-2.
Edgehill weren’t to be denied though and Reeves teed up Josh Fergus to win it.
Damien Robinson was Edgehill’s star man.
Seamer Reserves exited the competition after a 4-2 defeat against Whitby Fishermens Society, despite Adam Smith scoring two goals for the hosts.

Hide AdIn Division Two, West Pier Reserves won the battle of the top two as they overcame Eastfield Athletic 4-3.
Johnny McGough’s men sealed the spoils thanks to a Terry Day treble and Scott Wilson’s strike, while Paul Oldroyd, Brad Craggs and sub Liam Bruce scored the Eastfield goals with Gary Maw their man of the match.
Scalby Reserves sealed derby success with a 4-1 win over FC Rosette.
Tommy Day smashed in a hat-trick for the Otters with Sam Foy also on target, while Cameron McDonald was their man of the match.
Dane Robinson scored Rosette’s goal, while John Dawes was their star man.
