The Walking the Way to Health scheme has been launched in Leven.
The walks are a joint initiative between East Riding of Yorkshire Council's sports development and countryside access teams and are already very successful in areas such as Goole, Beverley, Haltemprice, Withernsea, Bridlington, Driffield, and South C
ave.

Stephen Shaw, healthy lifestyle development officer, said: “The Walking the Way to Health scheme has been so successful that it makes sense to include as many areas of the East Riding as possible.

“"The walks are about giving something back to the community and it's free to take part.”

Sharon Crean, a walk leader from Goole said: “The scheme is a great initiative as people can walk at their own pace and get fit while enjoying the walk and the social interaction.”

The walks will take place from Leven Sports and Social Club every other Thursday at 10am, lasting for approximately one hour. The first walk is on April 24.

Walkers will receive free tea and coffee on return to the sports club.

Walkers are advised to arrive at 9:45am to register and complete a health check questionnaire.

No booking is necessary, just turn up in comfortable clothing and walking footwear.
