A BISHOP Burton College lecturer and two students have won Medals for Excellence from awarding body City & Guilds.
As a result of the win, curriculum team leader Judith Slingsby and students Thomas Lockwood and Natalie Battle automatically became eligible for Lion’s Awards, - the education industry Oscars.

Judith, engineering student Thomas and education and training student Natalie are three of only 113 people to receive the medal, and the judging panel was impressed with the quality of all the entrants.

They said: “Both Thomas and Judith have shown determination and originality in their work and have achieved very high standards. They are deserving recipients of the Medal for Excellence and we are delighted to have chosen them for this award.”

The judges said Natalie was ‘“an excellent nominee who has undergone a positive journey. She is an individual whose achievements are a true example of optimising potential to others’.

Deputy principal (academic) Gray Towse accompanied the medal winners to the Lion’s Award dinner, which was held in London. He felt that all three were deserving winners and great ambassadors for the college.

“The City and Guilds Medals for Excellence recognise the highest achievement in vocational education and training today and I am delighted and proud that the college has been successful yet again with three medal winners.”
